This scholarship is in honour of Dr. Muhammad Shahidullah, who was passionate about education. Dr. Muhammad Shahidullah was the first Indian Muslim to receive a doctorate degree. He graduated from the Sorbonne in Paris in 1928 and was awarded a PhD for his research on the distiches of the Charyapada, the earliest extant specimens of Bangla language. After completing his doctorate, he returned to Bangladesh and started teaching. In 1937, when the Sanskrit and Bangla Department was split into two separate departments, he became head of the Bangla Department. He retired from this position in 1944. The Dr. Muhammad Shahidullah Scholarship supports one student from Bangladesh and covers the tuition fees for a Master’s program at London Metropolitan University.
Study Subjects and Level:
Scholarship is awarded to study any of the courses offered by the London Metropolitan University in UK. The Scholarship is available for studying master’s degree at London Metropolitan University.
Applicants must:
- have an unconditional offer to study at London Met on one of London Met’s Masters courses.
- have a First Class Honours degree or the highest accolade for your degree.
- have an overall IELTS score of 7.0 with a minimum of 6.5 in each component or SELT equivalent.
- be a national of Bangladesh.
Scholarship Value:
The Dr. Muhammad Shahidullah Scholarship covers the tuition fees for a Master’s program at London Metropolitan University.
