The Department of Politics and International Relations is pleased to offer three scholarships for September 2014 entry to its Distance Learning PhD program.
The scholarships are such that UK/EU tuition fee rates for the whole program will be paid in full. International applicants (and those not eligible to pay UK/EU tuition fees) must demonstrate that they can fund the difference in tuition fee rates.
Research areas and supervision:
The Department has an existing expertise in intelligence and security issues and we wish to provide opportunities for high level students to pursue studies in this area.
- Intelligence
- Counter intelligence
- Intelligence co-operation
- Security service operations
- Security service accountability
- Surveillance
- The operations of special forces
- Or, other aspects of security studies
Supervisors will be appointed subject to agreed research projects.

Entry Requirements:
Applicants must have a first-class or high upper second-class honors degree (or equivalent qualification) in a relevant discipline and meet the University’s standard English language entry requirements. It is normally expected that applicants will have a relevant Masters degree or be able to show evidence that they will achieve this before September 2014.
