Over 1,000 fully-funded scholarships are available for new masters and doctoral students in 2014 from the University, our colleges and supporters. Scholarships cover the full academic range of Oxford’s graduate courses and are available for UK, EU and international students. The details of scholarships are as follows:
Humanities: The University has recently been awarded £14 million for postgraduate studentships in a range of arts and humanities disciplines by the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC). This AHRC Doctoral Training Partnership will provide funding for at least 200 doctoral students and a number of master’s students during 2014-19. It will add to the existing range of postgraduate scholarships in the humanities, including the Ertegun Scholarship Programme, which creates a unique setting that fosters dialogue across academic disciplines, cultures and generations, and the Wolfson Postgraduate Scholarship Program, for outstanding students who demonstrate the potential to make an impact in the fields of history, literature and languages.
Mathematical, Physical and Life Sciences: There are many different funding opportunities for students studying the Mathematical, Physical and Life Sciences (MPLS) at Oxford. Funding covering fees and living costs is available for fourteen doctoral training programs, eight of which are new in October 2014. Research Council and other funding opportunities are also available for doctoral programmes in these areas.
Medical Sciences: Full funding opportunities are available for all Medical Sciences Graduate School programs, whatever your nationality.
Social Sciences: Oxford hosts one of 21 Doctoral Training Centres accredited by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC). In 2014 up to 80 ESRC studentships are available across the Social Sciences.
Part-time Courses: Oxford offers many opportunities for part-time postgraduate study, with over 1,500 students enrolled on part-time masters, postgraduate certificate and diploma courses, and doctoral programs. These are available through a number of departments, including the Department for Continuing Education’s Graduate School. A range of scholarships are available to students on these courses.
Multi-disciplinary scholarships: Oxford students also benefit from a wide range of prestigious multi-disciplinary scholarship schemes, including: Oxford Graduate Scholarships, Weidenfeld Scholarships and Leadership Program, supported by the Louis Dreyfus Foundation, Foundation Hoffman and Roland Berger Strategy Consultants and Commonwealth Scholarships.
