University of East Anglia recently celebrated our 50th anniversary and to mark this we want to give our international undergraduate students an exciting opportunity. Once you have an offer from UEA for September 2014, you can apply for our anniversary scholarship. We will award 20 undergraduate students with scholarships covering 50% of the first year’s tuition fee (ranging in value from £6,150 to £7,450 depending on your course.) Science applicants applying for a degree in the areas of Actuarial Sciences, Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Computing Sciences, Environmental Sciences, Energy Engineering and Mathematics will also be automatically considered for a Faculty of Science scholarship if they are unsuccessful in receiving a 50th Anniversary scholarship.
Study Subject:
- Anniversary Scholarships are provided to learn any of the courses (except Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, the School of Pharmacy) offered by the University of East Anglia.
- Faculty of Science Scholarships are provided to learn Actuarial Sciences, Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Computing Sciences, Environmental Sciences, Energy Engineering and Mathematics.
Eligibility:
Anniversary Scholarships: To be eligible for these scholarships you must meet the following criteria:
- Be classified as an international (usually non-EU resident) applicant for fees purposes. See our fees and funding page if you are unsure of your fee status.
- Hold a conditional or unconditional offer for year 1 of an undergraduate degree course starting at UEA in September 2014
- Be independently funding your studies – i.e. students sponsored by organizations funding their fees are not eligible to apply. (Students applying for or expecting to receive government loans are eligible to apply.)
- Applicants to courses in the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences the School of Pharmacy are not eligible to apply for the 50th Anniversary Scholarship.
Faculty of Science Scholarships: To be eligible to apply for this scholarship you must meet the following criteria:
- Be classified as an international (usually non-EU resident) applicant. See our fees and funding page if you are unsure of your fee status.
- Hold a conditional or unconditional offer for year 1 of an undergraduate degree course* starting at UEA in September 2014

53 Scholarships are offered for International Undergraduate Students.
- Anniversary Scholarships: 20 scholarships are offered.
- Faculty of Science Scholarships: 4- Actuarial Sciences, 5- School of Biological Sciences, 1- School of Chemistry, 5-School of Computing Sciences, 14-School of Environmental Sciences and 4-School of Mathematics.
Scholarship Value:
- Anniversary Scholarships: 20 Scholarships covering 50% of the first year’s tuition fee (ranging in value from £6,150 to £7,450 depending on your course.)
- Faculty of Science Scholarships: Actuarial Sciences-Four £2,000 year one scholarships are available to international students on this course, School of Biological Sciences-Five £1,000 year one scholarships are available to international students on any undergraduate course in the School of Biological Science, School of Chemistry-One £2,500 year one scholarship is available to international students on any course in the School of Chemistry, School of Computing Sciences -Five £2,000 year one scholarships are available to international students on any undergraduate course in the School of Computing Sciences, School of Environmental Sciences -Two £1,000 year one scholarships are available to international students on any Meteorology and Oceanography course. Five £1,000 year one scholarships are available to international students on any Environmental Earth Sciences or Environmental Geophysics course. Two £1,000 year one scholarships are available to international students on any Geography course. Five £1,000 year one scholarships are available to international students on any Environmental Sciences course. School of Mathematics-Two £2,500 year one scholarships are available to international students on any Energy Engineering course. Two £2,000 year one scholarships are available to international students on any course in the School of Mathematics.
How to Apply?
If you meet the criteria for these scholarships, please submit your scholarship application to us by email. For all scholarships you will need to answer the following two questions:
- Question 1: In approximately 250 words please tell us your reasons for applying to the University of East Anglia.
- Question 2: In approximately 250 words please explain how an undergraduate degree from the University of East Anglia would enable you to make a difference in the future.
- Please include your UEA application number, school of study and course title in your email. You will then be assessed for all scholarships for which you are eligible. Please do not apply if you do not have a conditional or unconditional offer from us. Ideally scholarship applicants should apply as soon as possible after receiving their offer or notification of the scholarship.
