The Department of Chemistry, Physics and Pharmacy at the University of Southern Denmark in Odense invites applications for a PhD position in the area molecular inorganic chemistry and catalysis. The candidate will perform leading research in the area bio-mimetic inorganic chemistry with an emphasis on synthesis and the development of catalysts for the selective and non-selective oxidation for various substrates and contaminants respectively. A prerequisite for application submission is experience in the synthesis and characterization of functionalized amino acids and their transition metal complexes. Applicants are expected to be highly motivated, reliable and interested in working in an interdisciplinary and international environment. A good command of English is a requirement. The project will start on 1 April 2014.

Scholarship Duration:
Appointment as a PhD Research Fellow is for three years. Employment stops automatically at the end of the period. The holder of the scholarship is not allowed to have other paid employment during the three-year period.

The successful applicant will be employed in accordance with the agreement of 16 November 2011 on salaried PhD scholars between the Ministry of Finance and AC (the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations). The successful candidate will be enrolled at this university in accordance with faculty regulations and the Danish Ministerial Order on the PhD Program at the Universities (PhD order).
