The University of Sydney Business School is offering up to twenty scholarships for local and international students undertaking one of the eligible single masters postgraduate coursework programs offered in semester 1, 2014. The scholarships are awarded on merit to the most outstanding applicants against the following selection criteria of academic achievement, leadership capabilities, ambassadorial potential and motivation to succeed in business in a socially responsible way. The scholarships will cover 50% of the tuition fees for up to 16 units of study, pending normal degree duration.
The Business School is currently taking applications from students who will be commencing one of the eligible masters degrees in semester 1, 2014.
Only candidates that are expected to commence study in one of the following degrees in semester 1, 2014 may apply for the Business Leader Postgraduate Scholarship.

Scholarships will be awarded to candidates commencing one of the nominated Masters degrees in semester 1,2014.
Conditions of Award:
- The scholarship is intended to promote academic excellence at the Masters level in selected degrees offered by the University of Sydney Business School.
- The scholarship is available to new students who will commence their first semester of study with the Business School in one of the eligible Masters programs involving 10 to 16 units of study. (A list of eligible Masters programs is available during application). The scholarship is open to full-time international and full-time or part time domestic students.
- Only those applicants who have received a firm offer of admission to one of the eligible Masters programs in the Business School for the sub sequent semester are eligible to be considered for this award. Current students who have completed study toward their degree and students receiving an offer of admission for a combined Masters program are not eligible to apply.
- The scholarship covers 50% tuition fees and is tenable for 1.5 to 2 years full-time or 3 to 4 years part-time Masters degree. To retain a scholarship, the holder must maintain a continuous enrolment during their degree from the semester for which they sought entry. A continuous enrolment requires four units of study per semester for full-time candidates or two units of study per semester for part-time candidates.
- The University of Sydney Business School will pay 50% tuition fees for the required number of units for the award of Masters. The tuition fee will be cleared following census dates (March 31 and August 31). The scholarship does not include airfares to Sydney, living expenses, study materials, text books, any ancillary fees (if applicable) and Overseas Health Cover each year.
- The scholarship is competitive, by application and awarded on merit to the most outstanding applicant assessed against the following four selection criteria:
- prior academic achievement, which must include a prior University degree with an Australian-equivalent average of at least 75%;
- leadership capability, with the successful applicant being required to demonstrate outstanding leadership potential in the business domain
- ambassadorial potential, including outstanding public and professional communication skills; and
- motivation to succeed in business in a socially responsible way by demonstrating a commitment to applying the learning offered in the chosen Masters program to making a positive difference to professional life and business practice.
Applicants are required to submit an application addressing each of the above criteria, including certified details of prior academic results. Applicant performance against these criteria is assessed by a scholarship committee chaired by the Associate
Dean, Postgraduate Studies. The scholarship committee may award a scholarship to individual applicants on the basis of the application submitted or may request certain applicants to participate in a 30 minute interview for the award, either in person or via electronic means.
- Applications for a scholarship are accepted for the subsequent semester in two rounds for award selection. The first round coincides with the admissions application closing date and the second and final round must be submitted no later than 4 weeks prior to the commencement of the relevant semester. Scholarship applicants applying in the first round should not reapply in the second and final round.
- The scholarship must be taken up in the semester in which it is offered. Scholarship holders are not able to defer or suspend their enrollment in the degree to receive the scholarship, except with the permission of the Associate Dean, Postgraduate Studies.
- The award is conditional on the scholars meeting all regulations of the program. To retain a scholarship, the holder must also achieve a 75% Distinction Grade average each semester. If the holder is undertaking units of study overseas as part of an approved University of Sydney outgoing exchange program, they will be expected to achieve Pass/Met Requirements of the program. In the event that a scholarship holder changes degree or discontinues study, the scholarship is no longer tenable.
- The scholarship may not be held concurrently with other University scholarship funds awarded to assist with the student’s tuition fees.
- Scholarship holders will have the opportunity to promote the coursework Masters Program in which they are enrolled and represent the Business School at student orientation, marketing events and corporate networking events.
