The Canadian Tourism Commission’s annual celebration of excellence in travel journalism calls on Canadian and international entrants – from bloggers and journalists to photographers and videographers – to submit their inspired travel tales for international recognition in up to 10 GoMedia Award categories.
Study Subjects and Level:
Awards are obtainable to all journalists who have produced travel stories about Canada as a result of past (2011, 2012, 2013) GoMedia attendance. The Awards are obtainable for bloggers, journalists, photographers and videographers.
Eligibility:
The eligibility criteria for each 2014 GoMedia Award category is as follows:
Print and Online: leisure, lifestyle, adventure, culinary (Canadian media)
- French- and English-language submissions only
- Open to all journalists who have produced travel stories about Canada as a result of past (2011, 2012, 2013) GoMedia attendance
- Published non-fiction travel-inspired writing
- Previous submissions that have not won may be re-submitted
- No word-count limit
- Submissions are judged based on a story’s overall quality and impact, inspiring readers to think about Canada as a travel destination

Online Media Centre Award – Industry Submissions
- Open to Canadian tourism partners including convention and visitor bureaus, PR firms, media relations representatives, tourism organizations, transportation, hotel and other travel and tourism sectors
- Submissions are judged based on overall content and visuals, as well as usability, design and innovation
- Submissions can be made by industry representatives or journalists
GoMedia GoGetter Award for PR Excellence
- Journalists and industry representatives nominate a Canadian public relations professional who provided exceptional service in 2013
- Recognizes an example of a PR professional who went above and beyond to support a visiting journalist and assist in the development of a Canadian travel story
- Submissions and nominations can be made by industry representatives or journalists
Keep Exploring – Award of Excellence (Canadian and international media)
- All languages accepted
- Open to all Canadian and international journalists who have a longstanding relationship with the CTC and the Canadian tourism industry
- Must have attended GoMedia in the past
- No word-count limit
- Submissions can be made by industry representatives or journalists
- Submissions are judged based on a story’s overall quality and impact, inspiring listeners/viewers to think about Canada as a travel destination
- Submissions will include a short bio about the nominee and their contributions
Scholarship Open for:
International and Canadian entrants can apply for these journalism awards.
Scholarship Value:
Media winners (categories 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7) will receive a $500 cash prize, plus locally sourced art piece. Non-media winners (categories 8, 9) will receive a locally sourced art piece. The Keep Exploring – Award of Excellence (category 10) winner receives round-trip tickets for two people from their city/country of origin to anywhere in Canada (max value $4,000). Winners do not need to be in attendance at GoMedia 2014 to be eligible for an award.

Notification:
Winners are announced at an awards ceremony during the 2014 GoMedia Canada Marketplace in Winnipeg, Manitoba, August 17-21.
