The IC4HD Human Development (HD) Fellowships aim to encourage both mid career and young professionals (academics, civil servants, and civil society practitioners) to analyze critical development issues from the human development perspective, thereby contributing to development theory and identification of applications and policies that put people at the centre of development debates.
Study Subjects and Level:
The research supported under the 2014 Fellowship programme must focus on a well-defined aspect of human development under the theme of social security for the global South. This is 3 months residential fellowship for young professionals at the Indian Institute of Advanced Study (IIAS), Shimla, India.
Eligibility:
Applications are invited from all eligible candidates. Women are strongly encouraged to apply. Applicants are required to fulfill the following eligibility criteria to be considered for the Fellowship:
- Must be citizen of an eligible country.
- Masters degree in relevant discipline is desirable.
- Should be between 25 and 35 years of age.
- Should have 3-5 years of relevant working experience.
- Should not be a UN staff member or an Indian Institute of Advanced Study staff/Fellow.

Scholarship Duration:
The IC4HD 2014 residential fellowships for young professionals support programmes of the duration of three months, starting in August-September 2014.
Scholarship Value:
The Fellowship covers the living expenses for the Fellow as well as a return airfare to the country of residence as per the most economical and direct route by air. In addition, the selected fellows will receive an amount of INR 50,000 per month. Free furnished residential shared accommodation will be provided at IIAS.
Selection Criteria:
The other selection criteria, which will be considered to shortlist applications, include-
- Exceptional creativity in choice of topic.
- Value addition or new direction to the human development concept, methodology, analysis, application and policy relevance.
- Track record of past accomplishments.
- Time needed for completing the work.

- Project proposal, not exceeding 1,200 words (which do not involve fieldwork with data collection) that highlights the main contours of the research to be undertaken during the tenure of the Fellowship which is residential.
