"Henry Bertie and Florence Mabel Gritton Research Scholarships"The Gritton Scholarships are awarded to candidates enrolling full time in a higher degree by research and are intended to promote the knowledge and study of chemistry in relation to industry and agriculture, including chemistry connected with electrical engineering, metallurgical chemistry and chemistry in its application to mining and the winning treatment of minerals and natural products of the soil.

This scholarship open for Members of the Association of Commonwealth Universities, graduates of any country who are citizens of a Commonwealth country or Australian permanent residents are eligible for this postgraduate scholarship.

Study Subject:

The scholarship is awarded in Chemistry related to Industry and Agriculture.

Eligibility:

Scholarships are open to the graduates of universities who are members of the Association of Commonwealth Universities, graduates of any country who are citizens of a Commonwealth country or Australian permanent residents. In addition, the Gritton Medalist Award is awarded to a University of Sydney Medalist who is enrolled full-time in a PhD project. The award is normally made in the second year of candidature and is for one year only.

Scholarship Value:

The scholarship is valued at the same rate as the Australian Postgraduate Award ($24,653 in 2013).

Application Procedures:

  • Applicants who have applied for the 2014 Semester one Australian Postgraduate Awards (APA) / University of Sydney Postgraduate Awards (UPA) by 31 October 2013: You will need to complete and submit Supplementary Form A and two Referee’s Reports. A total of six (6) sets of Supplementary Form A and supporting documentation are required.
  • Applicants who have NOT applied (or are ineligible to apply) for the 2014 Semester one Australian Postgraduate Awards (APA) / University of Sydney Postgraduate Awards (UPA): You will need to complete and submit Application Form B and two Referee’s Reports. A total of six (6) sets of Application Form B, complete with supporting documentation, are required.
  • Applicants who wish to apply for the Gritton University Medalist Award: You will need to complete and submit Application Form C and a letter from your PhD Supervisor. A total of six (6) sets of Application Form C and attachment are required.
  • Six (6) identical sets of completed Supplementary Form A OR Application Form B, together with supporting documentation / attachments, must be submitted.

Application Deadline: 20th January, 2014.
