Helmholtz Zentrum München

Helmholtz Zentrum München is one of the world’s leading centers in the field of environmental health research. The focus of the Center is on the study of common diseases such as diabetes and lung diseases. The Postdoctoral Fellowship Program is a newly established program for excellent early-career scientists (up to 3 years after graduation) at Helmholtz Zentrum München – German Research Center for Environmental Health. Talented postdocs who are accepted into the three-year program receive 3-year fully funded postdoctoral positions and can focus on a research project in an institute of the Center.

Study Subject:

Fellowship is awarded in the following research fields:

  • Multidisciplinary structural biology of signal transduction, Hypothalamic redox signaling in obesity and diabetes type 2,
  • Gene regulation in immune cell plasticity, Mitochondrial dysfunction in diabetes and obesity,
  • Hepatitis virus-host interaction (HBV), Environmental engineering / hydrogeology / biogeochemistry (modelling of reactive contaminant transport in sediment tank experiments),
  • Culturing of micropollutant-degrading microorganisms in bioreactors with continuous medium supply (chemostats, retentostats),
  • Mesenchymal stem cell therapy in chronic lung disease, Extracellular matrix dynamics/fibroblast function in chronic lung disease,
  • Epithelial cell function in chronic lung disease, Unravel novel genotype-phenotype links by the integration of phenotypic and molecular information from chemicals and diseases,
  • Metaregulation of denitrification in different soil compartments,
  • Reprogramming technologies applied in vivo,
  • Bioengineering/synthetic biology of remote control systems for molecular processes and functional imaging, Functional Neuroimaging via MRI,
  • Optoacoustics and Light Sheet Microscopy

Study Level:

Fellowship is available for pursuing postdoctoral research program at Helmholtz Zentrum München, Germany.

Eligibility:

  • Applications from highly qualified and motivated early-career scientists of all nationalities who have received a doctoral degree within the last three years or who will receive their doctoral degree by the start of the program are welcome.
  • PhD or equivalent degree in biological sciences, chemistry, bioinformatics, physics, mathematics, veterinary or human medicine or related life sciences.

Scholarship Open for:

Applicants of all nationalities are eligible for this postdoctoral fellowship program.

Number of Scholarships:

Up to ten candidates will be selected to the postdoctoral fellowship program.

Scholarship Duration: Fellowship will be awarded for a period of three years.

Scholarship Value:
