The purpose of the scholarship is to recruit high-achieving undergraduate students to Victoria University of Wellington and to support them in their studies. We will award 400 scholarships for study in 2014. This will be done competitively on the basis of academic merit. The majority of these scholarships will be awarded at $5,000 for the first year of study. The top 20 applicants will be awarded the new Victoria Vice-Chancellor’s Excellence Scholarships, valued at $20,000 over three years of study.
Study Subjects and Level:
Scholarships are provided to study any of the courses offered by the Victoria University.
The Scholarships are obtainable for studying doctoral or PhD degree at Victoria University.
Eligibility:
- Applicants with NCEA Certificate Level 2 or above endorsed with Excellence are encouraged to apply. The excellence credits must have been obtained in Year 11 or 12; credits gained beyond Year 12 cannot be counted.
- Students with an equivalent level of achievement in an alternative qualification (eg. IB, CIE) will also be considered. See the regulations for more information.
- International fee-paying students who have completed at least one full year at a New Zealand secondary school are eligible to apply.
Scholarship Open for:
The students of New Zealand and international fee-paying students who have completed at least one full year at a New Zealand secondary school can apply for these scholarships.
Number of Scholarships:
400 scholarships are offered.
Scholarship Duration:
Scholarships are offered for three years.
Scholarship Value:
Scholarship has a value of $5,000 (with up to 20 scholarships valued at $20,000 over three years).
Selection criteria:
This will be done competitively on the basis of academic merit.
Notification:
Applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application by mid-October.
