"NHFDC Trust Fund Scholarships"1500 scholarships under Trust Fund will be awarded in 2013-14 to students with disabilities for professional courses at Graduate and Post Graduate level. Under this scheme, total non-refundable fee is reimbursed as applicable to Government Institutions. In addition, maintenance and books/stationery allowance to the tune of Rs. 31,000/- for Graduate Course and Rs. 40,000/- for Post Graduate Courses are also allowed. Financial assistance will also be provided for purchase of aids and appliances for visual, hearing impaired and orthopedically handicapped students (once in life-time). This scholarship scheme is restricted to those students with disabilities whose total family income is not more than Rs. 3.00 lakh per annum. A novel feature of this scheme is that students can apply anytime online during the academic year 2013-14 (i.e. from 01.07.2013 to 30.06.2014). Even students pursuing correspondence courses are eligible under this scheme.

Study Subject and Level:

Scholarships are provided to study any available course at universities. The scholarships are available for pursuing graduate and postgraduate level at graduate and postgraduate level at various reputed organization in India.

Eligibility:

  • Under this scheme, 1500 Scholarships will be awarded to eligible students with disabilities for degree and post graduate level professional and technical courses from recognized institutions in India.
  • Monthly income of the beneficiary /parent or guardian should not be more than Rs.25,000/- (Rs. 3.00 Lakh p.a.) from all sources. Family income includes income of parent/guardian.
  • Students who get admission to a college to pursue technical/professional courses, on the basis of a competitive examination will be eligible for the scholarship without any consideration of percentage of marks at higher secondary/graduation level.
  • Students who get admission in technical/professional courses without facing any competitive examination will also be eligible for scholarship. However, such students should have not less than 50% marks at higher secondary/graduation level. Selection of these students will be done strictly on merit basis.
  • A candidate who is awarded scholarship for one course, after its completion will be eligible for another course too. However, the awardees will not be eligible for a similar or equivalent course.

Scholarship Open for: The students of India can apply for these scholarships.

Number of Scholarship:

To start with every year 1500 scholarships will be provided to the differently-abled students throughout the country. 30% scholarships will be reserved for girls, which will be transferable to male students in case of non-availability of female candidates.

Scholarship Value:

The following benefits will be available under the scheme:-

  • Non-refundable fees shall be fully awarded in case of Government/Government-aided institution. In case of private Institutes the reimbursement would be restricted to similar courses in Government/Government-aided institutions.
  • Maintenance allowance will be paid to the students for a period of 10 months only in one academic year at following rates:-
  1. for Professional Graduate Courses: 2500/( Maintenance allowance p.a) 6000/(Book/Stationery allowance).
  2. for Professional Post-Graduate courses: 3000/( Maintenance allowance p.a) and 10000/(Book/Stationery allowance).
  • Differently-abled students, in addition will be provided aids and appliances, only once during lifetime, as given below:
  • Visually Handicapped:
  1.   For blind: Rs. 10,000 (Brailler / Brailler Typewriter), Rs. 40,000 (Laptop with Screen reading software)
  2. For low vision: Rs. 60,000 (Laptop with Screen Magnification software)
  • Hearing Handicapped: Rs 50,000 + Rs 3600 p.a.(Binaural digital programmable hearing aid with annual provision of button cells), Rs 5,000 (Cell phone with SMS SIM card) and Rs 70,000 (Laptop with WiFi (Blue tooth) facility).
  • Orthopaedically Handicapped: Rs. 40,000 (Laptop)

Selection criteria: The scholarships will be awarded on the basis of merit.
